The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology recently released its proposed List of Advanced Smart Factories for 2026. Among the entries included on the list was the "Smart Factory for High-Efficiency Industrial Gearboxes Based on Precision Manufacturing", submitted by Nanjing High Speed & Accurate Gear Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Nanjing High Speed Gear Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (NGC Group). The project’s inclusion reflects the provincial department’s recognition of the company’s achievements in digital transformation and smart manufacturing within the precision manufacturing sector. It also marks a major milestone, officially placing the company’s smart manufacturing capabilities for industrial gearboxes among the most advanced in the province.
Deepening Expertise in Precision Transmission and Strengthening Industrial Foundations
Nanjing High Speed & Accurate Gear Group Co., Ltd., the company behind the recognized smart factory, was founded in 1969. As NGC Group’s high-tech enterprise that specializes in industrial gear transmission systems, the company engages in R&D, production, and sales while providing integrated solutions and services for major transmission equipment. Its products are widely used across industries such as wind power, metallurgy, power generation, mining, ports, and construction machinery. Leveraging the extensive technological expertise of its parent company NGC Group, which is supported by platforms such as the National Enterprise Technology Center and the National Technological Innovation Demonstration Enterprise, the company has focused on high-end precision gearboxes for decades. Today, it stands as a leading enterprise in China's industrial gear transmission sector, with strong technical prowess and an excellent market reputation.

Driving Smart Manufacturing Upgrades Through Intelligent Systems
In line with China’s 14th Five-Year Plan for smart manufacturing development and driven by the sector’s demand for high-end equipment upgrades, the newly recognized smart factory project integrates next-generation digital technologies such as private industrial 5G networks, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), big data, and artificial intelligence. Together, these technologies help create an integrated intelligent production system spanning R&D and design, lean production, quality inspection, warehousing and logistics, energy management, and after-sales operation and maintenance. The project not only helps the company overcome technical bottlenecks in the manufacturing of high-end precision industrial gearboxes, but also provides a proven benchmark for the smart upgrading of China’s gear transmission industry chain through its end-to-end digital and intelligent transformation.

Introducing High-End Equipment to Enable Smart Connectivity
The company has successively imported advanced cold- and hot-processing and testing equipment from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and other countries for key processes in the manufacturing of high-precision gearboxes. This has given the company one of the industry’s most advanced equipment configurations. Meanwhile, the company has been driving transformation in intelligent connectivity, achieving a 90% connectivity rate for workshop production equipment, with 100% of its automated and intelligent production equipment under networked control. Backed by a high-speed and stable private 5G network, the factory enables real-time equipment interconnection, data exchange, and remote control, effectively eliminating the information silos and coordination barriers typically found in conventional discrete manufacturing.
Integrating Software Systems to Build a Digital Platform
The company has deeply integrated more than a dozen core business systems—including PLM, SAP, CRM, SRM, WMS, and Q-DAS—to establish a standardized and integrated digital management and control platform. This platform connects key processes across R&D, procurement, production, quality management, warehousing, sales, and operation and maintenance, providing end-to-end visibility into and coordination of the company’s information, material, energy, and capital flows. A paperless production and operational management system has also been established, together with a robust cybersecurity framework to ensure that production and operations remain efficient, standardized, secure, and fully controlled.
Advancing Independent Innovation and Technological Self-Reliance
The company has independently developed a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for precision gearbox manufacturing. This system digitally captures and standardizes core production and quality data and can be readily adapted to a wide range of production scenarios within the industry. By leveraging optical character recognition (OCR) technology to extract and structure inspection data, the company continues to optimize its technology framework for high-end precision manufacturing, further strengthening its autonomy and control over key technologies.
Delivering Proven Improvements in Product Quality and Operational Efficiency
The company has made substantial progress in quality, efficiency, and green development following its smart transformation. Built on years of technological expertise, its core industrial gearboxes deliver outstanding performance, with a maximum power rating of 100 MW, a maximum rotational speed of 71,000 r/min, and a maximum accuracy of ISO Quality Grade 3. These products are exported to more than 60 countries and regions across Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. The company’s digital lean management model has increased production efficiency, improved the stability and consistency of product quality, and enhanced customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, its smart energy management and digital resource allocation systems effectively reduces production-related energy consumption and improves the intensive utilization of resources, supporting the upgrade into more efficient, high-quality, and sustainable smart manufacturing.
Empowering Industry-Wide Smart Upgrades for Long-Term Development
The factory’s inclusion on Jiangsu’s List of Advanced Smart Factories marks a significant milestone in the company's digital transformation. Looking ahead, NGC Group will continue to strengthen its commitment to smart manufacturing, further improve its intelligent production systems, and advance both technological innovation and scenario-based applications. The Group aims to reinforce its competitive edge in the precision manufacturing of high-end gearboxes, help drive China’s gear transmission industry toward smarter, higher-end, and greener development, and contribute to the high-quality development of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing sector.
