Geared for a Better Future

In order to carry forward the spirit of the “Model Worker” and “Craftsmanship”, to speed up the construction of the NGC team, to inspire employees’ enthusiasm for learning, to study our business, improve skills, and give employees a better understanding of the key role of production operations, the NGC Group Labor Union held the 2021 NGC CNC Machining Center Operator Technology Competition in May and June. The theme of this competition was “Carrying Forward the Spirit of the Model Worker, and Cultivating the NGC Craftsmen”.

The competition received positive response from group branch labor unions and their affiliated factories and departments. Many employees were eager to participate, and prepared very hard. A total of 18 technical workers from throughout the NGC Group participated in the 2021 NGC CNC Machining Center Knowledge Test and Technology Competition. After strict grading and screening, Yang Dandan from the High Speed Company No. 1 Affiliated Factory and 5 other employees were found to be outstanding, winning the title of “Excellent Technical Master”. Wu Jian from the High Accurate Company Planetary Transmission Gearbox Affiliated Factory and 3 other employees obtained the title of “Advanced Technology Master”.

The top four players in this NGC technology competition were recommended as representatives of Nanjing New Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd to participate in the Nanjing Worker Vocational Skills Contest CNC Machining Center Operator Skills Competition.

Because the equipment and tools used in the official game were very different from those used by NGC employees in their daily work, our competitors met with great difficulties in the early preparations for the final games. However, they dared to challenge those difficulties, had the courage to break through their own limits, worked hard to study new ideas and new skills, and taught themselves the new machining and programming software. They came together as one, helping each other, drawing on their accumulated wisdom to jointly explore the program’s thinking and processing methods for the game. Encountering rivals from each Nanjing industry, as well as those from high technology and new technology enterprises, our players fully demonstrated that NGC people work hard and dare to struggle with an indomitable spirit. They grasped the nettle and played calmly. Eventually, Yang Dandan and Cheng Qingfei from the High Speed Company No. 1 Affiliated Factory were awarded an outstanding result in the top ten. As freshman players participating in this municipal competition for the first time, achieving such success was really not easy.

The competition received strong support from the High Speed Company No. 1 Affiliated Factory, the High Speed Company Measurement Office, and the High Speed and High Accurate Company’s Manufacturing & Control Office, as well as the Group’s Purchasing and Human Resources Departments in providing cutting tools, measuring tools, techniques and sites. This is a shared honor belonging to the whole NGC Group.

Strong skills are the basis of strong power, the essence of industry; skilled personnel are an important strength that supports both ‘made in China’ and ‘created in China’. Possessing highly skilled technical workers is an important cornerstone of NGC’s consistent growth. The NGC Group Labor Union will carry forward the spirit of model craftsmanship, adhere to the philosophy of servicing production and management, use the “Ankang Cup” series contests as a handle, and take the “Post Skills Competition” and “Five Small Activities (small invention, small creation, small innovation, small design and small suggestion)” as the main line. In this way, the group can enhance the level of workers’ skills and discover new talents, thus cultivating an even better group of “NGC craftsmen”.
