On the morning of June 20th, colourful flags flying and drum beats booming, the CHSTE 2010 Dragon Boat Race was held at the scenic Mochou Lake.
The bright sunshine and cozy breeze was quite suitable for such a contest. 28 competing teams, consisting of 448 team members from the sub-companies, workshops and departments, participated in this game and over one thousand employees of the group came to the Lake to cheer for the game. The Dragon boats ready to start out; team members itching to have a try and the audience crowded round to have a good view, all contributed to the exciting atmosphere of the race.
Leaders of our group, led by Mr. Hu Yueming, the Chairman and President, came to the race. Mr. Hu painted the eyes of dragon to announce the start of race, and in the twinkling of an eye, the whole site was lit with enthusiasm. The drummers beating with passion, the helmsmen steadily holding the direction to row and all the rowers paddling to set sail. The four boats from each group tried their best to overtake each other amid the thundering cheers from the audience on the bank.
After firece competition, the Machining Workshop team from Ningkai Company won first place with 3’34’’73 minutes and the Rough Machining Workshop team from Gaote Company, the No. 6 Workshop team from Gaojing Company and the Assembly Workshop team from High Speed Company followed up to win the second prizes, while the Rough Machining Workshop team from Ningkai, the Ninghongjian team, No. 3 workshop team from High Speed Company, the Welding Workshop team from Ningkai, and the team of Gaojing Marine Company won the third prizes. The Storage Center team from Gaojing Company was granted the Prize for Best United Efforts, the No. 3 Workshop team from Gaojing Company won the Prize for Best Image, and the Prize for the Best Organizers was granted to the No. 2 workshop team from High Speed Company, the Final Machining Workshop team from Gaote Company, and the HR team from Gaojing Company. The other fourteen teams were granted the Consolation Prize for their efforts in the race.
The race was successfully held with support from group leaders and related departments. The entire game was safe and in good order, earning lots of praise from the community. Reports have been seen in local newspapers and TV channels including the Satellite Channel, the Urban Channel, the Sports Channel of Jiansu Province Television Station and the Oriental Guardian.
The dragon boat race has given full play to the enthusiastic and healthy culture of CHSTE with the heated competition and perfect representation of traditional Chinese culture. The concerted struggling in the race is exactly what drove the Group to strive for “Transforming to the second undertaking and Exceed ten billion through teamwork, providing energy and power”.
