Recently, the “Third Wind Energy Operation and Maintenance Technical Transformation Conference” was held in Beijing, with a theme of “Pursuing New Values with New Technology for a New Environment”.

In-air non-disassembly bearing replacement solution

At the conference, the 2024 “Pole Star Cup” awards were granted to influential enterprises in the wind energy industry. NGC was honored as one of the “Outstanding References for Technical Transformation and Improvement that Influenced the Wind Energy Industry” for its “replacement design for side bearings of a medium speed motor on a wind energy gearbox”.

The design was developed in-house by NGC, and features a dedicated tool for bearing replacement without opening the gearbox. This eliminates both the need for a crane and for opening the gearbox. In this way, it has effectively solved problems such as high costs, long service cycles and inconvenience to customers due to tower maintenance when using traditional methods for dealing with a failure on the side bearings of a 2MW gearbox medium speed motor.

Innovative “code scanning service”

During the conference, Liu Chaohui, a senior specialist with NGC’s Wind Energy Aftermarket Business Unit for wind energy, gave an in-depth interpretation on the issue of the quick response required for operation and maintenance on wind energy gearboxes. He introduced the new “code scanning service” recently developed by NGC. By scanning a QR code, users can easily check the main parameters of a gearbox, including power, speed of rotation, oil quality and quantity, and carry out online requests for repair. This service has greatly enhanced the operation and maintenance efficiency of wind energy gearboxes.
