The “Shell Breaking Action” is a program launched jointly in 2020 by NGC Group, the Amity Foundation and the local education department to help and support gifted high school students from poverty-stricken families. For each of the past 3 years, the Company has donated 3,300 yuan each of 15 poverty-stricken students at Jiangsu’s Gaochun Senior High School, with an aim to help them finish their studies at the school.

A timely visit and a warm greeting

This year marks the last year of the program, as well as the key period for the 15 students supported by NGC, who officially start their last year of study at the school. On September 26, the Company’s business management department joined hands with the Company’s Party Committee, representatives of the trade union, and a group of volunteers to visit the school to greet and encourage the students supported by the Company.

So as not to impact their studies, the activity was held on the school campus, and was attended by school management and teachers, leaders from the Amity Foundation, the greeting delegation from NGC, and the students receiving the donation. The school management first led the volunteers around the campus and introduced their current situation. Later, in the conference room, they outlined the “Shell Breaking Action” for the students and presented them with their donation.

The Company had prepared a special gift pack for the students, which included school supplies, daily necessities and nutritional supplements to boost their morale and confidence. In this way, everybody hoped the students could improve their mental state, turn pressure into impetus, and embrace the College Entrance Exam with the best attitude possible. Later, a brief presentation ceremony was held for the donation.

Messages of encouragement from volunteers

The business management department had earlier invited Company employees to share their learning experiences at senior high school or university in the form of a letter, so as to show the students of Senior Three the colorful life they could look forward to in the future, and encourage them to bravely face up to the College Entrance Exam. At the school, the volunteers shared these letters with the students. They contained messages of encouragement to master basic knowledge, adjust their mindset for the exams, and answer questions carefully and calmly so as not to lose any unnecessary points. Upon hearing the NGC employees’ sharing of their experiences, the students were full of praise for how useful this was for them. Other than working hard, they felt they did indeed sometimes neglect to adjust their mindsets.

The volunteers then engaged in an in-depth discussion with the students. Mr. Gu, manager of the business management department, said that, during the key Senior Three year, students should try not to focus too much on their psychological burden, since as long as they could thoroughly master each knowledge point they would be able to make the most of their performance. He also pointed out that students should get enough rest to stay fit both physically and mentally. As a socially conscious enterprise, NGC assumes its social responsibility at all times, and wished all the students present a satisfactory performance in their College Entrance Exams.

Assuming social responsibility

During the activity, the students all expressed their gratitude for the encouragement they received from NGC, as well as the big gift package from the volunteers and the financial support from the enterprise. They will now make the final sprint in their three years of study at senior high school. Every student is committed to making the best use of every second to work hard with great confidence, and to succeed in the College Entrance Exam.

By offering financial aid to students in need, the “Shell Breaking Action” helps relieve their economic burden and grow into people who can contribute positively to their family and society. This is the wonderful vision NGC has devised to support rural education, and its social responsibility as a corporate citizen. Hopefully, all the students can complete their studies smoothly and be admitted to the university of their choice. With confidence and a smile on their faces, they will be able to realize their dream of youth.
